Appendix 2: Test requirements

   Note:   The  test  requirements  listed  here  are  meant  as  general
   information  about  figure skating test in different skating programs.
   Both  the  detailed  requirements  and  the  entire test structure may
   change  from  season to season. Therefore, if you are planning to take
   any  tests,  consult  your  coach,  your  local club or figure skating
   association about current rules and requirements.

  ISI tests (incorporating changes introduced in Jan 2004)

    Freestyle

   The  FS  tests  are taken after passing the basic skills tests (alpha,
   beta, gamma and delta)
     * FS1:  Forward  inside  pivot,  two  foot spin, forward spiral back
       outside/inside edges, half flip, waltz jump.
     * FS2:  Ballet  jump,  half  toe  Walley, half Lutz, scratch spin, 2
       forward spirals, dance step sequence.
     * FS3: Back outside or inside pivot, Salchow, change foot spin, back
       spiral, toe loop or toe Walley, dance step sequence
     * FS4: Flip, loop, sitspin, half loop , two back spirals, dance step
       sequence.
     * FS5:  Lutz,  Axel,  camel, camel-sit-scratch, backspin, dance step
       sequence.
     * FS6:  Split  jump, split falling leaf, Axel-half loop-flip, double
       Salchow,  cross-foot  or  layback  or  change sit spin, spin combo
       (with   change  of  foot  and  position),  serpentine  dance  step
       sequence.
     * FS7:  Double  toe  loop  or  double  toe Walley, 2 Walleys, flying
       camel,  combination  spin  including  a flying spin and at least 4
       different  body positions (each held by 3 revolutions min.) and at
       least  one  change  of  foot; one foot Axel-1/4 flip-Axel, jump in
       opposite direction (flip or loop or Lutz), dance step sequence.
     * FS8: Double loop, double flip, split Lutz , flying sit or Axel sit
       spin,   1-1/4   flip/1-1/4   flip/double   Salchow,   illusion  or
       camel-jump-camel, circular dance step sequence
     * FS9:  Double  Lutz,  Axel-double  loop, opposite direction Axel or
       double  Axel,  rocker  or counter jump-double toeloop-double loop,
       flying camel or jump sit; arabesque/Bauer/spread eagle sequence in
       a serpentine pattern covering the full ice surface.
     * FS10:Double  Axel-double  toeloop, triple edge jump, death drop, 4
       alternating  direction  Axels  or triple toe assisted jump, double
       jump in both directions or triple toe assisted Jump-double Loop, 3
       Arabian   cartwheels  or  butterfly  jumps;  Dance  step  sequence
       designed by the skater covering the entire ice surface.

    Dance

   From  January 2004, it is not required to have passed the basic skills
   delta test in order to take the ice dancing tests.
     * ID1:  Alternating  F.  Chasses  in  Killian position to 2/4 music;
       Alternating forward progressives in Killian position to 2/4 music.
     * ID2:  Alternating  forward  swing rolls in Killian position to 3/4
       music; Dutch Waltz.
     * ID3: Canasta Tango, Rhythm Blues.
     * ID4: Swing Dance; Cha-Cha; Fiesta Tango.
     * ID5: Willow Dance; Hickory Hoedown.
     * ID6: Ten-Fox; Fourteen Step; Foxtrot.
     * ID7: European Waltz; Rocker Foxtrot; Tango.
     * ID8: American Waltz; Paso Doble; Quickstep.
     * ID9: Blues; Killian; Starlight Waltz.
     * ID10: Westminster Waltz, Argentine Tango, Viennese Waltz.
     * International Dance test: Silver Samba, Rhumba, Cha-cha Congelado,
       Midnight  Blues,  Austrian  Waltz,  Tango Romantica; Yankee Polka;
       Ravensburger Waltz; Golden Waltz

  USFSA Adult freestyle test requirements

   The   Adult   freestyle   tests   are   roughly   equivalent   to  the
   pre-preliminary  to  juvenile  standard  USFSA  freestyle  tests  (see
   comparison  table).  After passing Adult gold, it is possible to start
   testing on the regular track at the intermediate level.
     * Pre-bronze
         1. Two different half or one revolution jumps.
         2. A one-foot upright spin (min. 3 revolutions)
         3. A two-foot upright spin (min. 3 revolutions)
         4. Forward and backward crossovers.
         5. Lunge or spiral
     * Bronze (1:40 minutes maximum length)
         1. Salchow, toe-loop and at least another different single jump.
         2. Waltz jump-toe-loop combination
         3. One foot upright spin (min. 4 revolutions)
         4. One foot back spin (min. 3 revolutions)
         5. Sit spin (min. 3 revolutions)
         6. Connecting moves, steps and edges
     * Silver (2:10 minutes maximum length)
         1. Loop, flip and at least another different single jump.
         2. two  single  jumps  in combination (no turn or change of foot
            between jumps)
         3. A  jump  sequence  consisting  of  half and single revolution
            jumps
         4. Camel spin (min. 3 revolutions)
         5. Layback, attitude or sit spin (min. 4 revolutions)
         6. Combination   spin   with  one  change  of  position  (min  3
            revolutions in each position)
         7. Connective moves, spirals, edges with full utilization of the
            ice surface.
     * Gold (2:40 minutes)
         1. Axel
         2. Lutz
         3. Two additional single jumps
         4. Split jump, stag jump, falling leaf or half-loop.
         5. two  single  jumps  in combination (no turn or change of foot
            between jumps).
         6. Two different solo spins (min. 4 revolutions)
         7. Combination  spin  with  one  change of foot and at least one
            change of position (min 4 revolutions on each foot)
         8. Straight or circular step sequence
         9. Connective moves, spirals, edges with full utilization of the
            ice surface.

  USFSA test dances

     * Preliminary: Dutch Waltz, Canasta Tango, Rhythm Blues.
     * Pre-Bronze: Swing Dance, Cha-cha, Fiesta Tango.
     * Bronze: Hickory Hoedown, Willow Waltz, Ten-Fox.
     * Pre-Silver: Fourteen Step, European Waltz, Foxtrot.
     * Silver: American Waltz, Tango, Rocker Foxtrot.
     * Pre-Gold: Killian, Blues, Paso Doble.
     * Gold:  Viennese  Waltz,  Westminster  Waltz,  Quickstep, Argentine
       Tango.

  FFSG freestyle "Club" track test requirements

   The  FFSG  figure  skating  tests  are  split  in a Free skating track
   (medaille  de libre), "moves in the field" track ( medaille de glisse)
   and  a more recreational track (tests de Club). The tracks are totally
   independent from each other, but passing a series of basic skill tests
   is required for all of them.

   English

   PN1

   Salchow, toe-loop.
   Scratch spin (4 rev. min).
   One of the 4 forward three turns.
   Forward outside attitude.

   Salchow, boucle pique.
   Pirouette debout en dedans (4 tours min.)
   Un trois avant (tire par le juge).

   PN2

   Salchow-toe-loop, loop.
   Backspin (3 rev. min).
   One out of the 4 forward mohawks.

   Double salchow, Axel-loop.
   Camel(5  rev. min), change-spin with a change on position on each foot
   (4 rev. min. on each foot).
   One forward bracket
   Shoot-the-duck.

   Double Salchow, Axel-boucle.
   Pirouette allongee (5 tours), pirouette combinee avec un changement de
   pied  et  un  changement de position sur chaque pied (4 tours min. sur
   chaque pied).
   Un bracket avant.
   Cafetiere.

   PN7

   Double toe-loop, Double salchow in combination with single or double.
   Jump spin(5 rev. min), layback (women) or double change-sit (men).
   One backward bracket.

   Spread eagle or "Y" spiral.

   Double  Lutz, combinaison de deux doubles sauts avec un double flip ou
   double boucle.
   Pirouette  combinee  avec  un  changement  de  pied  et  au  moins  un

  NISA test requirements

   The  lower  test levels have three different types of tests - moves in
   the  field  (up  to Inter-Silver), freestyle elements and freeskating.
   The  top  levels  have  interpretive, technical and freeskating tests.
   Each  track  can  be tested independently of the other two -thus it is
   possible,  for  example,  to  pass  all  the  moves in the field tests
   without taking any element or freeskating tests.
    1. Preliminary:
          + Field  moves  -  1.  F  crossover  into  held FO edge in both
            directions  2.  consecutive FI edges. 3. BO cross strokes. 4.
            consecutive BI edges 5. forwards cross rolls.
          + Elements  -  Crossovers  around  the rink in both directions.
            Waltz jump; Salchow; toe-loop; upright spin; sitspin or camel
            (3 revs); forwards and backwards spiral (either edge).
          + Free  -  1.5  min.  program  including  two single jumps, two
            different spins and 2 different spirals .
    2. Inter-Bronze:
          + Field  moves  - 1. F changes of edge. 2. consecutive FO three
            turns.  3.FI three step to FO crossover (both directions). 4.
            BO  three-FI  mohawk-BO3  in  circles  in both directions. 5.
            forwards  and  backwards edge pulls on each foot. 6. BO cross
            rolls.
          + Elements  - Crossovers in a figure of eight; loop jump; flip;
            Lutz;  sitspin  (4 revs); camel (4 revs); change foot upright
            spin; straight line step sequence.
          + Free  -  1.5 mins program with three single jumps, one simple
            spin and one change-foot spin, straight line steps.
    3. Bronze:
          + Field  moves - 1. FO double threes on alternating feet. 2. FI
            double  threes  on  alternating  feet. 3. FO three step to BO
            double  three  pattern  in  figures  of  eight.  4.  Two back
            crossovers into BI double threes in a figure of eight. 5. RFO
            mohawk-LBO  crossover-RBI  three-cross  behind-LFI mohawk-RBI
            step  to LBO step to RFO swing, then step to LF and repeat in
            other  direction  6.  FI open choctaw-BO crossover-BO3 on the
            other  foot-FI  choctaw  etc.  7.  Chasse-cross  behind to FI
            double bracket, chasse on the other foot,etc.
          + Elements  -  perimeter  power stroking; Axel; double Salchow;
            combination of two single jumps including a Lutz; change-foot
            sit  or  camel  (4  revs.  each foot); camel-sit combination;
            circular step sequence.
          + Free  -  Three  different  jumps  including  Axel  and double
            Salchow;  combination  of  two single jumps including a Lutz;
            two  spins,  one  with  a  change  of  position  (4 revs each
            position)  and  one with a change of foot (4 revs each foot);
            circular steps.
    4. Inter-Silver
          + Field  moves  -  1.  Backwards crossover to BO edge-change of
            edge-BI  double  three,  repeat  in  other  direction.  2. FI
            mohawk-BI  change  of  edge- BO double three-step forwards to
            FI,  repeat  in  the  other  direction.  3. RBO crossover-LBI
            rocker-LFI  choctaw-RBO  crossover-LBI rocker-LFI choctaw-RBO
            crossover   to   LBO,  repeat  in  the  other  direction.  4.
            Two-footed  power  rockers (Two slalom lobes forwards on both
            feet  rocker  to backwards then two lobes backwards rocker to
            forwards,   then   repeat   turning  the  other  way.  5.  FI
            mohawk-BI-slip  chasse-FI  mohawk  pattern  in a circle, both
            ways.  6.  continuous FI-BO-FI choctaws in a straight line in
            both directions.
          + Elements  -  Double  Salchow;  double  toe-loop; double loop;
            combination  of  a  double  and  a  single  jump; flying spin
            (6revs);  camel-sit-change  sit  combination (5 revs. on each
            foot); serpentine step sequence.
          + Free   -  Axel;  two  different  double  jumps;  Three  spins
            (including flying spin and camel-sit-change); serpentine step
            sequence.
    5. Silver
          + Elements:
            Ladies  -  Double Salchow; double loop; double flip or double
            Lutz;  combination of two double jumps; flying spin (6 revs),
            layback  or  side leaning spin (6 revs); spin with one change
            of foot and one change of position (5revs on each foot).
            Men  - Double Salchow, double loop; double flip; double Lutz;
            combination  of two double jumps; flying spin (6revs); change
            camel  or  change sit (6revs each foot), spin with one change
            of foot and one change of position (ie camel-sit-sit) (5 revs
            each foot)
          + Free:
            Ladies  - Four different doubles; a combination of two double
            jumps;  three  spins  (including flying spin, layback or side
            spin  and  a  spin  with one change of foot and one change of
            position); step sequence.
            Men - Five different doubles (including Lutz); combination of
            two   double  jumps;  three  spins  (including  flying  spin,
            change-foot sit or camel combination and camel-sit-sit); step
            sequence.
    6. Inter-Gold
          + Interpretive  -  2:00  program  complying  with  current  ISU
            regulations  (rules  323 and 324), showing a level of skating
            consistent with the other Inter-gold tests.
          + Technical   -   2.40   program  complying  with  current  ISU
            regulations for junior skaters.
          + Free  -  Free  program complying with current ISU regulations
            (rule 320)
            Ladies - 3:30 minutes including a double Lutz and three other
            doubles.
            Men  -  4:00  minutes  including a double Axel and four other
            doubles
    7. Gold
          + Interpretive  -  2:30  minutes program complying with current
            ISU  regulations  (rules  323  and  324),  showing a level of
            skating consistent with the other Gold tests.
          + Technical  -  2.40  short  program complying with current ISU
            regulations for senior skaters. (rule 317)
          + Free  - Free programme complying with current ISU regulations
            (rule 320)
            Ladies- 4:00 minutes program including a double Axel and four
            other double jumps.
            Men  - 4:30 minutes program including one triple jump, double
            Axel and four other double jumps.
    8. Gold  Star  (free  only) - Free program complying with current ISU
       regulations (rule 320).
       Ladies-   4:00  minutes  program  including  one  triple  jump,  a
       combination containing a triple jump and a double Axel.
       Men - 4.30 minutes program including two different triple jumps, a
       combination containing a triple jump and a double Axel.
