  This means that you tried to run a Performer 1.0 application (such
  as a 4.x version of perfly) on a machine running IRIX 5.x.  Virtual
  memory management is different in IRIX 5.x.  In order for your
  program to work properly you must:

     % setenv PFTMPDIR /usr/tmp
