Most of the SGI employees who read the SGI newsgroups are engineers and similar useful people, not evil marketing policy-setters. If you feel, for example, that NFS or Documenter's Workbench should be a standard part of IRIX, don't post; call your sales rep and yell at them. However, software bugs are better newsgroup material: an SGI person may well see your message and fix the bug then and there. Nonetheless, don't depend on it. Call the TAC and tell them too. There's also a website that provides an interface for people to publicly address complaints about various companies.
