-5- Where's the C compiler?
For IRIX 5.3, IDO is now available on the web free. See http://www.sgi.com/developers/devtools/apis/ido.html Complete with C compiler, headers, libraries, and tools. For IRIX 6.2-6.4, one needs IDF/IDL plus a compiler. Purchase a C compiler from SGI (IDF/IDL come with the compiler) or download IDF/IDL (and gcc) for free. IDF/IDL images for 6.2, 6.3, 6.4 are at http://www.sgi.com/developers/devtools/apis/idf_idl.html Get gcc from http://freeware.sgi.com/ to have a free C compiler. For IRIX 6.5, one needs IDF/IDL plus a compiler. IDF and IDL are shipped with IRIX6.5. Purchase a C compiler from SGI and/or get gcc for free from http://freeware.sgi.com/.
