Add an '-n' to the mountd lines in /usr/etc/inetd.conf (/etc/inetd.conf in IRIX 5.x), like so: mountd/1 stream rpc/tcp wait root /usr/etc/rpc.mountd mountd -n mountd/1 dgram rpc/udp wait root /usr/etc/rpc.mountd mountd -n then 'killall mountd' and 'killall -HUP inetd' or reboot.
