You can use an x-acto knife/small screwdriver/paper clip to pop it out. Also, shorting across the contacts once the battery is removed is how you clear the CMOS on the unit. (I guess my suggestion of using an x-acto knife/small screwdriver/paper clip to remove it doesn't inspire confidence eh?)
