The alt.vampyres newsgroup was given Usenet approval and came into
existence as an unmoderated newsgroup on Sunday, 3 September 1992.
The file description maintains that the alt.vampyres newsgroup is for:
Discussion of vampyres and related writings, films, etc. Postings to 
alt.vampyres should be compliant with the alt.vampyres faqs which
summarize the newsgroup purposes thusly:

1. Alt.vampyres is for the discussion of vampire lore in any culture,
   ancient or modern.

2. Alt.vampyres is for the discussion of vampires in fiction, such as
   novels, stories, poetry, comics, movies, and television.

3. Alt.vampyres is for sharing original vampire fiction.

4. Alt.vampyres is for the discussion of theories about biology,
   psychology and sociology with respect to the legendary vampire.


For discussion about vampire role-playing games, go to:
alt.games.whitewolf.

For discussing vampires as lifestylers, blood fetishers, to declare
yourself a vampire, or to find other people who claim to be vampires,
go to: alt.culture.vampires.

The following guidelines are taken from alt.vampyres faqs and from
actual discussions on the newsgroup.  Therefore, they are emphasized
as particularly relevent for contributions to alt.vampyres:

-Alt.vampyres is a text-only newsgroup. Do not post in HTML. Do not post
gifs, jpegs, bmps, binaries, etc.
-Do not make test posts on alt.vampyres (go to alt.test).
-Frequent or off-topic advertizing is considered spam and may be reported.
-Do not post someone else's work as your own. This is called 'plagarism'.
-No personal attacks or insults (except when troll-bashing).
-Take to email lengthy personal or off-topic discussions.
-Edit responses to avoid unnecessary inclusions of earlier postings.
-Edit subject lines as necessary to remain consistent with the topic.
-Do not post theories and fiction as the Truth unless you can support
it with factual evidence. If you can't, expect to be challenged.
-Do your own homework (for help, see http://www.refdesk.com/homework.html
