This FAQ is to share ideas on the implementation details of reading, writing, converting, and displaying graphics file formats. You'll probably get some good ideas here, find a few things you didn't know about, and even have a few suggestions and improvements of you own to add (send them to jdm@ora.com). If you need to know the best way to do something with file formats, or just find it embarrassing to implement a chunk of some other programmer's code and then have to admit you really don't understand how it works, then this FAQ is for you.
