A distant relative was purported to be in the Franco-Prussian War as a French soldier and became a POW. The war lasted less than a year but he was a POW for 8 years. I can't find an explanation for this. Can you help? The name of my soldier is Amato/Aime Jules Cesar Tissot, born in 1843. Thank you very much for any info. JB
