Subject: Introduction
Welcome to rec.arts.comics.marvel.xbooks, the Official Newsgroup for The
Mutant Universe of Marvel Comics. This is the place to discuss the
X-Men comic books: critique the plots, analyze the artwork, and debate
whether or not Jean Grey Is Still Dead On The Blue Area Of The Moon.
Subject: General Hints
There are a few things that you should consider before you jump in:
Please read the newsgroup FAQs. The FAQs will answer many of your
questions! They will also let you know how the racmx newsgroup works.
Please read the newsgroup for a few weeks before posting. Get to know
the regulars. Then post an introduction so we can get to know you.
Please be concise when writing, and format your posts.
* Type a response *below* the quoted material you're responding to,
so it reads like a conversation.
* Leave in the attributions and some of the previous poster's text,
so we know who and what you're responding to.
* Delete the portions of the post that you aren't responding to,
including the other person's .sig file, to save news server space.
* Use standard punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and grammar,
so your posts are easy to read.
The easier your posts are to read, the more people will read them.
Please be nice to the other posters to the newsgroup. Remember, there
*are* creators reading this newsgroup, so qualify your dislikes with
specific details. Similarly, please don't flame others. Constructive
criticism gets better results than insults.
If you still need an answer (or if you want more info), there is a
list of "Other Xbookers Who May Be Of Assistance" in Part 7 of the
General RACMX FAQ. These people are here to help you-- if you can't
find an answer, they're happy to get you the info you need.
Subject: FAQ Resources
Please read these FAQs before you join in the discussion-- they may
provide the answers you're looking for! They're a great resource.
*** THE GENERAL RACMX FAQ
URL: http://users.rcn.com/kateshort/faqs/racmxFAQ/
These are Frequently-Asked Questions about the comics and the creators
that racmx readers have posed over the years. This FAQ is "required
reading" for anyone who reads the X-Titles. Kept by Kate the Short.
*** READ BEFORE POSTING
URL: http://users.rcn.com/kateshort/faqs/read.htm
This is a "netiquette" and "posting difficulties" FAQ. It describes
*why* posters sometimes ask for certain topics to be posted in another
rec.arts.comics.* newsgroup, and discusses things like SPOILERS. Kept
by Kate the Short.
*** OTHER RAC.* COMICS FAQS (LIST)
URL: http://users.rcn.com/kateshort/faqs/
The rac.* FAQs (posted to rec.arts.comics.info and rec.arts.comics.misc)
have important information for any comics fan. Checking them out is
never a bad idea.

The Welcome Keeper would like to thank:
* David R. Henry for being so concise in his original Welcomes,
* Marty Blase for previously keeping the racmx FAQ and web page,
* Aardy R. DeVarque for critiquing everything under the sun for me,
* and all the RACX'ers who made racmx a welcome place to begin with.
