[6.3.7] Mainframe {Brief}
From: Disk Mainframe disks are sometimes referred to as SLEDs (Single Large Expensive Disks). The term DASD (Direct Access Storage Device) usually refers to a mainframe disk, but is occassionally applied to any hard disk. The WWW FAQ contains some information about mainframe CKD disks and file systems.
