On top of that I think that FAQ-maintainers are still providing a service
and that this service should not encounter too many requirements. These
days I use the mail-to-newsserver at rtfm.mit.edu, which automatically
inserts supersedes-headers, but there are still loads of maintainers who
post by hand. One would require these people to dig into their own
archives, retrieve the message-IDs and have them superseded, with many of
these people having to get a new newsreader for this purpose.
Therefore I think that the likely consequence of such a requirement would
be that fewer maintainers will decide to post to *.answers: current
maintainers will stop doing so and new maintainers will be scared off by
another requirement (and one that, contrarily to all other *.answers
requirements, cannot be put into a simple stationary file).
Kind regards,
