I can't help you with the job offer part as no one's offered me a job
because of my FAQ, but I do deal with the questions part. That's pretty
common, as a matter of fact.
Usually, I'll just answer the question if it won't take too long and I
haven't already dealt with it in the FAQ. If it's an involved question
that I have no interest in I'll refer them to the appropriate newsgroup (I
post to more than one) or point them to a particular book or web site.
I have gotten a few "send me everything you've got on food storage" kind of
requests to which I'll reply "that would presently be about 50-60
megabytes, is there a *specific area of interest you have?" and take it
from there if they reply.
Btw, I once did ask a fellow for the name of a particular food store he
found a bulk supply of food preservation chemicals in. He replied with a
question concerning my knowledge of the layout of Haifa, Israel. It's easy
to overlook those national designators sometimes.
