Excellent point. The other item that I neglected to mention in my
previous message is that many FAQ readers (including myself) like to print
out hard copies of FAQs to read. Now, of course, we aren't going to be
marking them up like proofreaders, and thus we don't need the extra
margins, nor do we wish to use entire reams of paper to print out one
FAQ. Using 60-character lines tends to substantially inflate the number
of printed pages required for a particular document that would otherwise
have been formatted for 80-character lines. Thus, it seems like it would
serve as an impediment to usefulness of the document.
