Ok... Badly worded. RTFM does not reqire permission be granted in advance
to retrieve the files on RTFM other than following the copyrights placed on
the individual documents by the FAQ authors/maintainers. I was under the
(memory fading) assumption that Jonathan had disavowed any compliation
copyright on RTFM shortly after the archive was initially established as a
part of the news.answers creation. As I remember, there was some fear of
compilation copyrights shortly after news.answers started to take off.
You are correct that a mirror is a copy of a compilation. I was talking
about a specific case, not in general. In this case here is the Copyright
notice that RTFM displays.
