Not really. The FAQ for sci.astro.amateur might be of little interests
to those outside of the specific newsgroup, but today if I want to dig
out some information about astronomy, and when I go to that newsgroup
without seeing any FAQs (probably you post your FAQ once a month and
I happen to go there when the old version gets purged), the FAQ archive
should be the next place for me to dig out FAQs. Submission to
"news.answers" serves for this purpose.

Of course, if there are few newbies posting FAQ questions in
sci.astro.amateur, or people there do not mind seeing some frequently
asked questions showing up there again and again, then submission to
"news.answers" is not necessary.
