The closest thing I could find is
http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/hypertext/faq/technical-notes/
which doesn't have a whole lot of useful info ... it describes the
formats of things he turns into links (see item 2 in the "FAQ" list),
but just refers to RFC1153 for the structure of digests.

You can probably assume that the "other digest format" isn't actually used,
since no one but Fine knows what it is ;-)
