: It's wierd how much our audiences vary. The seven parts of the diabetes
: FAQ total slightly more than the wine FAQ, yet I've never received a
: single suggestion that I should not post it.

I maintain a FAQ of about 200K for the newsgroup de.comp.tex, which is
a "bastard" because this newsgroup is connected to (a) USENET as
de.comp.tex, (b) FIDO net as TEX.GER, (c) MAUS net as TEX, and
probably more bulletin board like systems/nets which are connected
using normal phone lines (and phone costs aren't cheap in Germany!).

There were only a small number of suggestion not to post it or to post
it less frequently at the beginning, the growing phase of the FAQ
during which I posted it weekly. Nowadays the FAQ is posted once a
month (and crossposted to *.answers). Additionally a short reminder
including a list of pointers to copies of the FAQ, how to get the FAQ
using ftpmail, etc. is posted once a week.

: One purpose of a Usenet FAQ is to affect the atmosphere of the
: newsgroup. Posting the FAQ, the entire text, makes it more likely that
: a new reader will encounter (or, dare we hope, search for and find) the
: FAQ and read it. For this reason, I say keep posting.

Or: keep posting the whole thing but less frequently, instead post a
short reminder that there is a FAQ and how to get a copy.
