Another solution to this would be a diff posting accompanying your FAQ.
If you change your FAQ, you post an article with the subject "Changes
to FAQ" which contains all changes (preferably made automatically with
the Unix diff command or one of its DOS ports). For a large FAQ,
readers with a slow connection might choose to read this article first
and then decide if they really want to download tha updated FAQ.
If there are no changes, just use the subject "Changes to FAQ (no
changes since ...)" and people will know that they don't have to update
their archived version.
