I'm still interested in writing, or helping to write the tool, but
finding the time is a real problem. Also, I'm no expert on SGML, so I
would probably do a poor job of designing such a program.
Here are my thoughts on it. I would like to see it generate ascii, html,
TeX and rtf files. I would like to write it in 'c' so that it can easily
be compiled on unix, dos, os/2, etc without additional tools such as perl
installed. I would like to do it in the form of a filter so that no
interface code would have to be written. Interfaces could be added
later. This is in keeping with the "toolbox" attitude of unix.
If there is any interest, perhaps we could discuss a design outside of
this list. If there are only two or three of us we wouldn't need a
mailing list, and if we did need a mailing list I could set one up at
work.
Mail me if you want to work on this. There wasn't enough time or
interest the last time it came up, so it fizzled out.
