The list hasn't been very busy; usually we try to wait until there are
more messages collected before putting a batch in the archive, but
you're quite right, it had been too long since that happened. I just
added all the messages up through yours to the archive,
ftp://rtfm.mit.edu/pub/faq-maintainers/.

I don't have any news about OSU, but there are, and have been for some
time, several alternatives. For example, see the Utrecht University
pages (http://www.cs.ruu.nl/cgi-bin/faqwais) or those at Oxford
University (http://www.lib.ox.ac.uk/search/search_faqs.html), both of
which are fully searchable by text, newsgroup, or archive name.
There's a more extensive list at the bottom of the *.answers
