A number of regulars on rec.arts.disney.parks and alt.disney.disneyland
are working on a basic pointer FAQ. While we have
rec.arts.disney.announce, it seems many people can't figure out that even
THAT exists (maybe they just scan for key words, like "parks" or
"disneyland").
Here is my question:
We used to have an individual who posted a Walt Disney World (Orlando,
Florida) FAQ regularly until about a year ago. He seems to have left the
Internet altogether. His accounts are no longer valid, and nobody around
here knew him in real life so we can't track him down.
The problem is, he put a copyright notice on the title of the
document--both "Walt Disney World FAQ" and "WDW FAQ." We have some folks
who want to provide a WDW guide, but can't use the above terms because of
the copyright.
Has this happened anywhere else? Is this reasonable? People keep doing
searches for "WDW FAQ" and they now only get the old, outdated version.
Then we have to hear the complaints. It seems silly to forever have to
skirt around it because this is a pretty generic phrase that people use
to refer to a FAQ about the park, but we don't quite know what to do. So
far, all the WDW guide writers have been good not to mention that phrase
in one breath, because we are honoring his copyright notice. But this is
getting to be a real thorn on our side and we don't know what to do.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much!
