You may be right; however, I think that this is the case when one of the
competing FAQs is clearly detrimental to the very existence of two
newsgroups. Nevertheless, I guess my judgement was impaired by emotion
after I found 200K of spambot feces in my university mailbox and about
half as much in my commercial account mailbox.
Most likely, Iatskovski can be dealt with without invoking gods, demons
and news.answers moderators. If enough people do what he hates them to
do (namely, post calm, friendly and informative stuff to
soc.culture.russian and soc.culture.russian.moderated), he will probably
perish by spontaneous combustion.
But in the meanwhile he can intimidate people into silence. To be more
exact, he can FAQ people into silence. And use news.answers to FAQ
more people into silence.
BTW, here's is the answer to the question raised by somebody in this thread -
WHY soc.culture.soviet and now soc.culture.russian are such a breeding
ground for kooks? Simply because most of my compatriots (and former
compatriots) are _very_ easy to intimidate. Student visas, temporary
contracts, constant fear of returning home to crime, corruption and
unemployment plus ingrained mistrust of all and any power structures
and reluctance to seek help even from own newsadmin.
Not incidentally, quite a few kooks who thrive on torturing these sheep
are _former_ citizens of the Soviet Union, unable to get rid of the
subconscious totalitarian heritage and craving for self-justification
over those who, in their opinion, are lower on the pecking order.
Cruel century, cruel hearts, as Pushkin would have said...
