Well, I took the opportunity to read the book in question (_Best of
the Net_) this weekend, and to be honest, I think the author's
decision to credit the FAQ maintainers in an acknowledgement page only
was in very poor taste. Granted it was at the front of the book--but
it's in 8-pt. font and teeny tiny. It was in alpha order by last name,
so there was no easy way for someone to say "Oh! A section on horses!
Who wrote that?". Worse, the MTV-esque box-and-column-bits-n-pieces
format of the various sections made it difficult to tell exactly what
came from what FAQ.

...basically left a bad taste in my mouth. It's kinda sad that someone
can slap something like that together and call himself an *author*. I
should see if the book is listed in a library catalog and see if he's
credited as the author or an editor. It SHOULD be the latter, and the
FAQ maintainers should have bigger credit...
