I wrote what I would call a batch file if I was working in a DOS world
(my UNIX experience is somewhat limited) to post my FAQ through inews. I
keep my FAQ in 10 files (part1.txt ... part10.txt) with the extended
news.answers headers in them as well as the basic fields of from, subject
and newsgroups. Inews throws the rest of the necesaary headers on it and
off they go.
It's not as nice as the perl scripts (from what I've read of their
capabilities) in that it can't set expiry dates on its own, but since my
FAQ is posted bi-weekly with a pointer posted at least weekly, I'm not
worried about people unable to find the FAQ because of expiry
situations... and it was much easier than learning perl ;-)
I find the shell account better for some things, and the Winsock account
better for others. Happily, my provider gives me a free shell account
with my PPP account, so I take advatage of it.
