I almost wrote a book once (long sad story) and discussed copyright with
my prospective publisher. He told me that, in practice, the only thing
he could do with breaches of copyright was to get an acknowledgement
inserted into the next edition of the offending publication. That is to
say, NO MONEY. This was in the United Kingdom.
