I seem to remember that something like this showed up on sci.crypt.
I don't recall the details (I don't read sci.crypt) but I think it
involved a seller of crypto stuff writing and posting a FAQ that
answered a bunch of questions but neglected to mention any producta
other than their own. Sort of a "here's all the questions and answers
we think you need" type of thing.
My apologies if I've mischaracterized the situation: I only heard about
the fracas. I missed the debate.
Perhaps somebody who reads sci.crypt could clear things up and/or correct
me.
} What is your opinion on the posting of
}such FAQs, and is there any way to discourage them?
IMHO, commercials that are thinly disguised as FAQs are a Bad Thing.
Now, as to what to do about them....I dunno.
