Re: Identifying as a FAQ maintainer?

I identify myself as "faq editor." While it is true that I wrote three
of the five sections in the faq, I rely completely on others two write
the other two sections. Beyond that, I have recently posted a request
for input on some items that are "frequently-asked," because I am not
the only "resident wizard" on this newsgroup---and don't want to end up
owning all the wisdom-in-writing in the faq. Our faq has a great deal
of technical information that is hard to find in print, and we have
several people who have twenty and thirty years of experience with the
topic. As editor, I do get to pick and choose what's in the thing, and
an editor can also make substantial contributions to a publication, but
taking the role of editor also implies that contributions by others are
not only welcome, but desireable. Like a scholarly journal editor, I
also rely on e-mail input from a few people in the role of "referee,"
and they've saved me from going flat on my face a few times. The
result has been a very high acceptance, some requests for releases for
republication, and I have a "warm puppy feeling" that we're doing
something right in a medium that is notorious for flames.
The group topic is relevant to my professional work, so my role as faq
editor does have a place on my CV.
