Look, there has to be a cut-off point somewhere. What if the newbie
says "Oh, I'm having trouble with my modem downloading large FAQ
files", should I be expected to sort out that technical detail for him
as well?

If your mailer and news software don't handle 64K messages according
to the RFCs, then you aren't on Usenet or the Internet, and it's not a
Usenet FAQ maintainer's job to help you.
