The submission guidelines ask that you attempt to post the FAQ
as you would normally, which means my Newsgroups: line included news.answers.
The relevant sections were then held up from going anywhere b/c of the
news.answers moderation process. If the news.answers moderators reject
the posting, then it doesn't go anywhere at all. I have no idea what
happens if they accept it, but the implication of their asking you to
submit the FAQ by posting it is that if they approve it, it will be posted,
just as other moderated newsgroups work. (Is that mistaken?) In the
meantime, I'm sitting here wondering whether or not it would be a
waste of bandwidth to repost on the local groups. It doesn't look
good if suddenly vast numbers of FAQs appear twice on the local group.
If it's really the case that submission of an FAQ by attempted posting
has nothing to do with getting the FAQ posted, but only gets it
approved, then I think something to that effect should be included
in the submission guidelines. This would definitely have affected
my decision regarding whether or not to continue posting to the home
newsgroup.
