Hello,

there has been some discussion here about the relation between
faqs posted on Usenet and the corresponding faqs published on WWW.

I think the faq-author should be in control.
If the author whishes to 'bless' some (html'ed) version of the faq,
the author puts an Url:-subheader-line in the faq pointing to
the 'blessed' WWW entry (part or top).

This would help authors maintaining their own html'ed version,
but also authors who who depend on the httpd-service of others.
In case of change these authors need only contact those who
serve them.

I think it would be sensible to add to the guidelines the
recommendation to use the subheader keyword Url: to point
from the Usenet-version to some version on WWW.

Acceptance of this 'standard' would help me because we try to maintain
an archive of news.answers postings on WWW (http://www.cs.ruu.nl).
Currently the entries are only (as-posted) plain-text but I would
like to point to (blessed) html'ed versions where possible, based
on the contents of the posted faq.

Any thoughts on this ? === HenkP ===
