I try to avoid this kind of problem by keeping
descriptions of commercial prodicts to a minimum. I maintain
a Comp.lang.* FAQ list, and the section for compiler vendors
contains a disclaimer that mention of a product does imply a
recommendation and, for each product,

1) the product name,
2) what hardware and operating systems they support,
3) a contact address.

Reviews, discussion, recommendations, sleazy commments, &c.
are left to the newsgroup itself.
