A nicely organized gopher page is a great help, too ---

I have some HTML with the following:

<A HREF="gopher://gopher.archive.umich.edu:70/11/.software-archives">
U of Mich</a> software archives or the
<A HREF="gopher://gopher2.tc.umn.edu:70/11/FTP%20Searches">
University of Minnesota</a> gopher server for FTP sites.<p>

The first includes gopher pointers to UMich's mirror sites,
as well as VERY informative READMEs, and the second makes
it clear just from layout that if you are shut out of one
server, there are others.
