** I am rather concerned by this attempt to publish the FAQs.
** As I see it, Daniel Zwillinger and Mark Friedman have decided to
** make money based on the work of a lot of other people. I have a
** lot of problems authorizing someone to make money from my work,
** when I myself do the work voluntarily.
I really don't expect that we will be making a lot of money with this
project. My motivation is mostly to take an extroadinarly useful source of
information (FAQ's) and turn it into a useable text reference book. I
have a lot of Internet-deprived friends who have expressed interest in
such a reference work. However, if the consensus of the
faq-maintainers is that such a book is against Internet society
principles, I, for one, will back out of the project.

Your're way ahead of me (i.e., you read your mail far more regularly
than I do). (I had sent this message back to you asking for a
reponse)
I have received many favorable responses, maybe 30 newsgroups covered
so far. Many people have mentioned something that we should have
thought of ourselves: we should give a copy of the completed work to
every author whose FAQ we use.
