I just went through the copyright FAQ, and some
email I archived during the "Spaghetti Publishers
want your FAQ" flamewar, :) and I have several questions:
If I want to assign the copyright to all the
contributors (who are credited in the document),
is it kosher to say
COPYRIGHT 1993 The authors
where the authors are clearly listed elsewhere?
Or, must I name the authors individually in the
copyright notice?
Also, I think the contributors to the FAQ I maintain
are leaning towards thinking of the thing as a
publicly accessible work in progrees. Will that screw
any attempts to copyright it? Specifically,
does anyone see something nonsensical in the
paragraph below if I am trying to claim copyright?
No author or proofreader credited
grants any publisher the use of his or her name, and be warned that
attempts to publish this shared work-in-progress may interfere with
legal commitments individual authors may privately hold with publishers.
Thanks for any help.
