It's not exactly a FAQ list but the online magazine TidBITs which is posted
to comp.sys.mac.digest as well as other places outside Usenet does
accept advertising. Currently TidBITs is sponsored by APS (Alliance
Peripheral Systems) makers of Macintosh hard drives and other products.
APS even has a special 800 number for TidBITs readers so they
can tell which of their customers saw the ad in TidBITs rather than
MacWorld, MacUser, or MacWeek. TidBITs has had other advertisers
in the past but APS is the only one that has stuck around.

The ad reads:

This issue of TidBITS sponsored in part by:
* APS Technologies -- 800/443-4199 -- 71520.72@compuserve.com
Makers of hard drives, tape drives, memory, and accessories.
For APS price lists, email: aps-prices@tidbits.com

I think TidBITs has a policy of only accepting advertising from products
the publisher likes and recommends.
