It *is* possible to have a reasoned, calm discussion of this (or
almost any) issue, with the people on each side of the debate
expressing their points of view without engaging in ad hominem attacks
against others.

Most of you know that, I am sure. Others, however, have gone far
overboard in their criticism (no, I'm not going to name names; you
(along with most everybody else) know who you are). As the chief
moderator of this list, I will not stand for the mud-slinging that's
going on.

I see no reason why this discussion is inappropriate for this list.
However, The flaming IS inappropriate, and if I see anyone engaging in
it from this point forward, I will remove him/her from the list. If I
remove you (you will be notified if I do) and you feel slighted, feel
free to try to convince me (via faq-maintainers-request@mit.edu) to
add you back, but if I choose not to, tough.

I hope I won't have to remove anyone from the list; I'd like to think
that we are all capable of being civilized to each other.
