I sympathize with Kent's sentiments about how FAQ Lists posted to the Usenet
should be effectively "public domain." None of us (so far as I know :-))
are getting rich working on these enormously helpful documents.

Nonetheless, I would still draw the line at "value added" versions of said
lists. Such as graphical, hypertext versions (e.g. the INF version of
the OS/2 Frequently Asked Questions List), multimedia versions (embedded
audio/video, perhaps?), printed and typeset versions (particularly if there
are extensions to the list itself), and so on. These go above and beyond
the call, and I think their authors should be compensated to the extent the
market will bear.

I suspect faq-maintainers is not really an appropriate forum for this.
(I like to see this mailing list err on the side of low volume, critical
information, and this discussion probably doesn't qualify. :-)) So can
we move this to a newsgroup perhaps?
