I hope that the FAQ accesses can continue to be seamless, transparent,
and convenient even as J.Kamens begins his yearlong stay in Israel. Mr.
Kamens, perhaps you could post more information on this subject-- when
you are leaving and how operations will be affected in your absence.
You posted a list of the new maintainers, but obviously other realms
will be affected, such as not being able to update the posting scripts?

I have been working steadfastly over the past six months or so to find
new maintainers for all of the services I've started. The work I've
done to revamp how *.answers moderation is handled so that there can
be multiple moderators, and to find co-moderators to help with the
load (thanks guys!) is one example for that. I have also found people
in the MIT SIPB to maintain all of the non-*.answers services on
rtfm.mit.edu (e.g., anonymous FTP, the mail server, the
usenet-addresses server, the WAIS server, etc.), and the *.answers
moderators will be handling the maintenance of the *.answers services
(e.g., maintaining the FAQ archive, keeping the List of Periodic
Informational Postings up-to-date, maintaining the FAQ server, etc.).

I hope that these services will *not* be affected by my absence. In
fact, considering that previously I was running them all by myself,
and now there are a large number of people helping to run them,
service should improve, right? :-)

In any case, I'll be on the Net one way or another while I'm in Israel
(You don't *really* think I'd disconnect myself for a year, do you?
I'd go into withdrawal!), so I'll be available to help with things.
