Compromise on CD-ROM FAQ issue?

I don't see why they don't honor copyrights and the law.

I imagine that, in their eyes, they _are_ honoring both copyrights and
the law. It's just that there is this honest difference of opinion
about what exactly the law _is_.

And all of us (including myself) who aren't experienced Copyright
lawyers can rant and rave all we want: we aren't going to write the
law, we aren't going to set precendent, and we probably aren't going
to change anyone's opinion.

Someone can force the issue by filing suit. I would guess that the
outcome of such a suit would be one that we _all_ would rather not
have. Something like the judge ordering USENET to be shut down...
(Not serious, but an example of such an outcome. In short, be careful
of what you ask for, you may get it.)
