I feel constrained from replying at length, given that I've recently been
castigated for excessive bandwidth-use. However, I must say that I think all
your arguments specious. The fact is that these people are violating the
expressed conditions of distribution placed on their copyrighted FAQs by many
authors. The sleazy tactic of requesting a negative override only adds
insult to injury -- FAQ authors should have their wishes and rights respected,
and it's the publisher's affirmative responsibility to seek permissions rather
than assuming them.
