Usenet has been successful because it's a political anarchy. Mosiac has
done well for similar reasons (amongst others).
The harder you make it to post to news.answers, the more people you
discourage.
If my FAQs are going to fall under some awful GNU copyright, I shall
withdraw them at once. I'm really only prepared to put that much work
in if people can use the results, and that includes publishig them in
any way they want. I know that my attitude towards the GPV is by no means
unusual.
I honestly think that there has been a lot of senseless fuss over this.
For my own part I'd rather see the FAQs explicitly placed in the public
domain, but obviously there are others who wouldn't; I don't see anything
wrong with either view, and don't see why the views can't co-exist.
