On multi-part FAQs

I would like to make a suggestion.

People who post multi-part FAQs should stagger the posting of each
part. For instance, I post a different part of the alt.atheism FAQ
each week, along with instructions detailing how to get the other bits
if they aren't in the newsgroup.

The advantages of this over posting the whole lot in one go are:

1. Users at badly-configured sites only have to wait a week at most before
they see some FAQ. Hence they're less likely to post saying "Hey,
where's the FAQ?"

2. One doesn't end up going into a newsgroup and finding that the
entire article selection screen is filled up with "Forth FAQ", "PPP
FAQ" or whatever.

It takes a little thought and effort to get the post_faq.pl script to
stagger the postings, but it's well worth it in my opinion. Perhaps a
"staggered posting config file builder" could be written?

Thus endeth the lesson for today.
