Chemical Warfare Training Area Reported Near Havana: A
assignedhemical warfare unit reportsW training areaeters is located approximatelyiles east of Havana. Recruits assigned to this unit are trained in chemical tactics. During training exercises the recruits near olive green rubber protective suits which were said to be lined in red-colored wool approximately one centimeter thick and designed to protect against chemical affents.
Comment: Numerous accounts of CW being played in maneuver exercises by both the Cuban army and air force have beon received in recent months. Existence of the reported CW training center would further indicate the importance Cuba is placing on CW. The thickness of the suits used is questionable; the size of the training area would indicate that field tminlng ig limited tn defensive measures.
