Supplement to the Pueblo Situation No.0 ESt'T
A Soviet Foreign Ministry official,the Pueblo case with Senator Mondale in Moscow today, strongly indicated that the USSR wanted the matter to be.settled amicably.
The Soviet official is deputy head of the American Section of the Foreign Ministry. He claimed to be personally familiar with the case and probably is, since he was present when Grorayko saw Ambassador -hoopson, also today. Ho made the following points to the senator:
USSR did not know about or prompt
regretted it;
vessel was apprehended withinwhich had been declared territorial watersKorea;
vessel had been approached bycraft and asked to leave,'but refusedso:|TM
he was not personally sure ofhe thought the wounded on the Pueblonot by gunfire but probablyesultaccident while destroying secret documents and
