my son contacted adopt a dog in liberty indiana regarding a pet adoption. the employee sarah koonce was rude, unprofessional and inappropriate. after multiple conversations with me and my son over the course of a week she told us to come to the facility to pick up the puppy we we we were interested in. however the next morning she called and asked for our previous pets vets name and number. she called that vet and asked questions regarding our previous pet. an itallian greyhound we got when she was four months old in 2002 and had until her death at 10 years old. she then called my son back and told him he was being denied adoption of this puppy because he was a "liar" and had "provided false information" and he was "an irresponsible pet owner" because he had stopped taking his dog to the vet. the vet receptionist, ( who didnt know us, or our previous pet ) told her we stopped bringing our dog in around 2009 , the vet didnt say she had died, just that we had stopped bringing her in. later i spoke with sarah koonce and said i would like contact information for a supervisor. sarah stated she was the president of adopt a dog in multiple counties and she answered to no one. she said she had a 'bad feeling' about my son, and that i should stop my "complaining and bitching" i asked her how many dogs were in the cages and kennel waiting for adoptive families that sarah deemed unworthy of adoption. we live in the country, have over 10 acres of land, a fenced in back yard other farm animals, chickens rabbits cats etc. she stated we were unfit for a puppy but would happily adopt an adult dog to us. ??? really, sarah refused to give us any information for anyone we could speak to about her behavior. sarah is unprofessional, inappropriate clearly uneducated and unhappy in her position, cleary a vet tech on a power trip, who treats another human being that way, calling us in her words, "a liar," "providing false information" which was untrue, calling me a 'complainer and bitching" she told me she works her ass off for this facility only to have to listen to people like me. saras then told me of a particular case where she had adopted a puppy to someone, and they tried to sell this puppy on craigs list and she was gonna make sure we didnt do that with this puppy. now who is providing false information, this story was clearly fabricated on the spot to help sarah through this situation she had burried herself into. sarah is a poor represenative of adopt a dog, and her behavior should be monitored by someone besides her idea of 'policing herself.' however she does seem to enjoy her 'power' of deeming worthy or unworthy the public while multiple animals sit in cages in the adopt a dog facilty when they could be enjoying life with a family.
