The Haunted French Quarter, New Orleans, Louisiana Report Abuse
The haunted French Quarter has 200 years of ghostly legends involving Voodoo curses, cold-blooded murderers, stories of Revolutionary War Pirates and Civil War soldiers. Most locals will tell you that the city is left open to ghosts within the homes ad business of Central New Orleans because of the concentration of extremes.

The Winchester Mystery House, California Report Abuse
The Winchester Mystery House was under construction for 38 years straight. Sarah Winchester (Winchester Rifles) was deeply saddened and mourning the deaths of her daughter and husband. On the advice of a friend, Sarah decided to consult a medium who told her that there was a curse upon the Winchester family because the guns they made had taken so many lives. The medium told Sarah that "thousands of persons have died because of their guns and their spirits are now seeking vengeance." Spirits can be seen throughout the house at night.

The Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colorado Report Abuse
Stephen King wrote half of his novel "The Shining" in Room 217 of this hotel after he was inspired by the ghostly activity. If you are a real daredevil, you can request a room on the 4th floor which was formerly the servants quarters. This floor is considered the most active, and you can often hear children playing in the hallway, even though there are no children there.

The Haunted Catacombs, Paris, France Report Abuse
Long ago, the population of France began growing rapidly and there was an additional need for space to be created to accommodate. In an effort to create the space, engineers and planners decided to move the mass of humanity least likely to protest: in this case, the dead. They moved millions of dead, quietly disinterred, and their remains were deposited along the walls of the chilly, dank passageways lying beneath the City of Light. They lie there to this day, in the eternal darkness, an Empire of the Dead.

Waverly Hills Sanatorium, Louisville, Kentucky Report Abuse
The sanatorium opened in 1910 as a two-story hospital to care for 40 to 50 tuberculosis patients. In the early 1900's the county was hit with a severe tuberculosis outbreak and the hospital was over capacity with 140+ patients. As you can imagine, many died as a result of lack of care, etc. It is legend that they still roam the halls crying out for help and wandering from room to room, looking for assistance and company.
