Forget running back, Brown may be the greatest football player of all time. Few people realize that when Jim Brown was playing, his 250 pound frame was larger than many of the defensive linemen and linebackers trying to tackle him. Despite retiring in his prime, Brown led the league in rushing eight times, setting all time records in yards and rushing average while playing only 12 and 14 game seasons. Brown’s career average of 5.2 yards per carry is the highest in NFL history for any back with 750 or more carries

Personified the phrase "A man among boys."
At his best, he was probably better than anyone else at their best, except for Brown.

The most unorthodox runner of the list, Barry was the most electrifying man in football and the most explosive running back ever, dazzling fans with stunning runs that seem to defy the laws of physics. Despite retiring early, Sanders compiled 15,269 yards by age 30 and would own every rushing record in existence if he had wanted to stick around.

"Sweetness" is considered to most complete back on the list. He could beat you so many ways - he could make you miss, outrun you or run over you. He could catch, he could block, he was the nicest guy in the league. The all time leading rusher when he retired, the ease with which Walter played the game almost hurts his legacy - it was so effortless people forget how dominate he was.

You're current All Time leading rusher and the all time leader in touchdowns for a running back, Emmitt's numbers are sick and his dominance in the early 90s is undeniable. He falls to fourth due to the fact that he's credited with running behind one of the greatest offensive lines in the history of the NFL and was frequently five yards up field before he was touched.

The only active player in the top five, LT hasn't finished writing his story yet and that's very scary. Although he's beginning to show signs of wear, LT's last five seasons may very well be the best ever at the position. He may be the greatest combo of running, catching and even passing to ever play. He's currently second on the all time TD list.

the only reason Eddie George career ended so sudden. His running style, teams and fans don't like to see runners wear down defenses. They want homerun hitters the guy that can get a 100yrds in 15 carries not 30.
