As sweet as Lane was, it made Mrs. Kim even more awful of a character in contrast. She had very few redeeming qualities, and her flaws far outnumbered them.

A last minute addition to the later seasons of the show, April's character was unrealistic and had no chemistry with Luke's character (her father). It was almost as bad as when The Cosby Show added Olivia at the end, or when Growing Pains added Luke. It was just completely unnecessary.

Although it might have seemed like a good idea to have Lorelai have a dog with a personality as unique as hers, the result was far too over the top. His multitude of quirks (e.g., fear of the porch stairs) became annoying rather than cute.

Jess' unrelenting anger and chip on his shoulder attitude made him difficult to watch. It was completely unbelievable that sweet Rory would've been attracted to him since he was awful to everyone but her.
