The first female Smurf, Gargamel originally created Smurfette to destroy the Smurfs, so it was poetic justice that, instead, she became an integral part of the Smurf culture. It was great to have a female character on a mostly male-dominated show.

Delivered by stork on a magical evening, Baby Smurf is the most adorable Smurf imaginable. Baby Smurf's baby talk is also adorable.

Clockwork Smurf
Handy Smurf created Clockwork Smurf, who is very strong and basically looks like a smurf robot. Robots are always good, but a smurf robot is even more fun.

Papa Smurf was the best because he always knew just what to do and how to get the smurfs out of trouble. With his red suit and white beard, he also looked a little like Santa Claus, which was very endearing.

Handy Smurf
It was always fun to watch and see what technological marvel Handy would create next. Although the rest of the smurfs never seemed to fully appreciate his inventions, Handy kept at it, and the inventions were a dose of humor in the shows (e.g., the telesmurf or telephone).
